當台灣正在歡度颱風天的中秋佳節時
在地球另外一端的紐約市 也有一群台灣人民
在聯合國前面 大聲的告訴世人 台灣要加入聯合國
去年 2007年 台灣首次以台灣名意加入聯合國

由於當時的扁政府和民間力量的結合
可以說是我在美國參加加入聯合國的活動以來
動員民眾最多 而且也是成效最有效的一次
在聯合國內幾天的會議討論後 才將台灣加入聯合國的議題否決
當馬政府上任後 排台動作分外鮮明
除了不以台灣名義參與國際組織外
連外交也配合中國大陸為前題 而採用外交休兵
對內以"陳水扁"貪瀆為大旗 加上藍媒的配合 繼續唬弄台灣人民
對外以一中為前題 以經濟發展為掩護
實質進行被中國統一的方向前進
當 CEPA一但簽署 台灣就正式邁入香港特別行政區的後塵
CEPA 對台的影響一文 讓大家去深思
其主要目的是文中的 "一國兩制" 經濟只是手段罷了

中國現為全球股票跌幅最大的國家
2008年 缺少了政府力量後 台灣民間並不放棄加入聯合國的構想
一樣在紐約市舉辦台灣加入聯合國的活動 
2002年九月 當時我還只是NJIT的台灣留學生的副會長
帶著新生到台灣駐紐約辦事處辦理駕照證認文件
當時駐紐約的教育官員還會要求各大學校的會長帶學生到紐約
拿著青天白日旗和一些標語 到聯合國參加活動
由於當時還不是以台灣名義加入聯合國 所以還有官員會出面參加
去年 2007年 正式以台灣名義後 許多怕丟官的政務官員就不出面了
今年的活動更不用說了 為了自保的官員通通沒參加
這就是 現在台灣官員的想法 顧自己的八肚 哪管台灣到底有沒有未來 
去年新港媽祖繞巡 今年改用幾個比較可愛照型的小神像代替
今年的經費由於有限 無法像去年舉辦的那麼壯大
不過 參加的人數還是相當可觀

我認為 上街遊行最大的目的就是要將理念透過行動而傳達出去
所以我把重點放在當天紐約客對這次遊行的反應
說真的 紐約市是一個文化大溶爐 加上是各方的交點
所以紐約客對外來資訊的吸收 會比許多城市來的快也來的多
當天就有為阿伯 為每一個經過他面前的遊行隊伍握手或擊掌加油
口中還唸唸有詞的說 God Blees Taiwan People 
Keep Taiwan Free 
路上的阿伯 也拿起自己的iPhone把隊伍拍下來
iPhone 真是個好用的手機 
誰說活動沒人在意
路人紛紛拿起手機或是相機 把台灣的訴求拍下來 
現在也正值美國總統大選 當隊伍經過第六大道時
剛好與共和黨的宣傳團隊遇上
對方陣容看到 UN foe Taiwan 馬上有人疑問的說 What! Taiwan is not part of UN !!!!
隊伍中也有幾位團員還特別向他們解說這次遊行的要求重點
我想 雖然美國人無法百分百了解台灣的政態
但是加入聯合國這件事 老美都覺得這是天經地義的事
遊行隊伍走到時代廣場 
剛好經過一個新電影的扛棒 扛棒上面寫著
If you want to live. You will obey. 如果你要活下去 就要遵從
台灣人要活下去 所以我們要加入聯合國 
第七大道上的現場佈置的工作 在遊行隊伍抵達前 已經在開始怖置 
這次的遊行 和往年最大不同的地方 就是終點是擺在時代廣場
在這塊號稱全世界的十字路口 也是最貴的地皮上
台灣要在星期六下午 人最多的時段 告訴世人 我們要加入聯合國
以往 遊行隊伍都走到中國大使館門前抗議
不過說真的 星期六他們又不上班 鐵門一拉 效果也等於是零 
遊行隊伍陸續的從後方趕來後 聚集在 Ruby Tuesday餐廳的門前
準備整個下午的活動 
拉起布條 用文字的訴求將聲音發出去
Taiwan is Taiwan. China is China 請世人不要混為一談
Recognize Independent Taiwan
承認台灣是獨立自主的國家 
China is a liar.. 中國是騙子
(其實當天應該順便加一句 KMT is a liar, too) 
在對街上 馬上吸引到逛街民眾的眼光 紛紛把腳步停下來 看對街在做什麼
拿起手機 拍下對面的宣傳隊伍
這又是一個成功的傳達訊息
馬政府不想做的 由民間團體自主性的來發起
效果並不輸給於 那些只顧自己飯碗的官員做的笨事 
有些街頭藝人 看到隊伍也要個小旗 掛在自己的招牌上支持
說真的 台灣加不加入聯合國對美國民眾真的不會有太多影響
但是地球就像是一個世界村 當有個村落需要幫忙時
就會有些人會適時出來響應或是來支持
看到這商家的舉動 我真的很感動
這比一些台灣邦交國要錢才願意出口發聲的國家而言
這商家的一個小舉動 遠勝於台灣的凱子外交 
台灣聯合國先生的顏江龍 也在現場上講出台灣的心聲 
前立委蕭美琴也在現場用非常流利的英文 向在現場來自全世界的民眾
告訴台灣要加入聯合國的訴求
同時也告訴世人 中國不段的用各種手段要將台灣併為中國的一部份
台灣加入聯合國的主要目的不是要製造戰爭
而是要求一個公平的對待
台灣是個主權獨立的國家 並非中國的一部份 這是不爭的事實 
我真的很佩服蕭前立委的見識和一口流立的英文解說
用字非常簡明也容易的將這個活動的主旨傳遞給世人 
真的很開心能在現場有機會和她合照
哥大政治學碩士的她 果然有哥大學生的風範 ~~~ 
現場的人群陸陸續續的都有停下腳步 關心對街的一切活動
有人關心 就表示活動成功 
圖博(西藏)也有代表在現場出聲 
看著上面大扛棒上小孩的笑容 搭配著下面的遊行團體
說真的 大家要求的目的為何 不就是想讓我們的下一代有個更棒的將來 
整個活動在下午四點前結束
結束前 顏江龍也不忘自己今天的代表角色
在街頭上發放手中的宣傳品
能遞出一份宣傳品 就是盡一份心力將這次主題傳答出去 
在和台灣加入聯合國的宣傳團團員聊天得知
他們在活動前一晚抵達紐約市 半夜三點才睡覺 隔天就馬上參與活動
他們原本以為現場參加的民眾大約都和他們一樣的年齡層
想不到 還看到很多年輕人也願意站出來為台灣出聲
這是他們覺得最感動的地方
聊天得知 這位先生來自屏東 剛好和阿賢同故鄉 有趣的事 他還認識阿賢的爸爸喔

活動最後 我以這張土地公的相片當為結尾
土地公在傳統的台灣習俗上 是個顧鄉顧土地也和人民最親近的神明之一
當今政府的方向已經於台灣這片土地背道而馳時 這時人民最需要的是認知
認知現在環境的大方向 認知現今台灣發展的未來方向
我個人認為 兩岸的經貿如果能刺激台灣經濟發展固然是個好事
但是失去國家主權 而換來的經濟發展的同時 只是讓將惡果留給下一代
我知道我的文章有被監控 也會有許多支持統一的中國人或台灣人來留言
你們盡量留吧 反正我看不慣就砍言

無盡的感動
九月初剛從NY回來，看了一連五場的洋基球賽，特別去Jerry所提過的地方去朝聖了一番，還特別注意有沒有一群黃衫軍出現，只可惜沒有遇到你們，不然～一定會要跟你們合影的啦，不過～～沒有看到小民，是最可惜的事，只能希望明天Jerry還能幫我們帶第一手的照片，讓我們看到台灣之光在大聯盟發光發熱這次去NY也有去聯合國參觀，當時因為是假日，所以牆上的竿子上沒有掛國旗，當時的我就在想，如果能在上面看到我們青天白日的旗子飛揚，會是多麼令人感動的一刻～～
一看到這篇有關加入聯合國的文章，就知道一定又有令我感動沸騰的東西了，果然～在看到蕭美琴的照片時，真的覺得政客跟政治家的差別，這種活動，台灣的媒體不敢報導，登不上報紙或新聞，所以來參加的政治人物，所秉持的是自己的信念及堅持，想要勇敢的替台灣發聲，即使只是一滴落在海裡的水滴，也希望能激起巨大的波瀾～～
真的很謝謝你們為台灣所做的一切～～

UN Demostration on 9/13 in NYC

On 9/13, Saturday, Taiwanese again did a demonstration at the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, NYC to demand the entrance of UN for Taiwan. I think the rally was a great success, and you may want to view the photos or video clip from FTV of Taiwan about this demonstration. Provided below is an internet link for your viewing,

Since I did take part the whole rally, I would like to supplement some of my side track observation which is not reported elsewhere, and hope it might interest you. It was estimated 8 hundred people attended the demonstration and majority of us from tri-states (NY, NJ and Conn) area near NYC. Special thanks should go to those 29 of delegation from Taiwan and other 25 of them made a long drive from Boston. This time I noticed many more young faces showed up those who including young couple pushing baby stroller, student from Taiwan and second generation Taiwanese American. After the first part of demonstration at the Hammarskjold Plaza, the rally paraded to a block next to the Time Square. Unlike previously, the destination was set to Chinese Consulate General next to the Westside highway where remote and not a lot of passer- by is. Time Square is a very busy shopping district with hustle bustle pedestrians, very good for us to disseminate our message “UN for Taiwan” to the general public. Especially, people heard two little girls (their picture shown in the album in the above stated link) keep on chanting “UN for Taiwan”, to them could be just for fun, but to us their young child voice with a high pitch transmitted far that got a lot of attention. Next, the place across the street from our rally spot on 7th Avenue is the NYC double deck tourist bus stop. Every one to two minutes at least one bus stop over and passengers waiting to be picked up or drop off and the stop over time usually last for minutes. Those passengers riding on the bus deck were from all over the world including foreigners, while awaiting on the bus top they would naturally turn their attention across the street to our demonstration with display of colorful flags, signs and the parade deities. Besides taking photos, watching our sign of slogans and hearing our chanting, many of them responded with their sign of support. Effectively, this is the way we are looking for so a demonstration could get the most out of its propaganda effect. Moreover, due to our justified appealing touched his heart, there even a passer-by came voluntarily to stand up to our stage to make a short speech enunciated that he supports Taiwan’s admission to the UN, and denounces China strongly in violation of human right. First, most of us thought he was an invited guest of honor, but later we found out he was just a passer-by with justice in mind. I thought this episode is worth of sharing. Finally, I would like to share my other moved encounter. During the parade while I and another were holding a long banner with a sign of “UN.limited Taiwan”, there an Ameri-sian family of three with Taiwanese mother approached us and offered their help to relieve us of holding the long banner. While walking together, the mother told me that she is very concerned about the Taiwan’s present situation and is afraid of Ma Ying-jeou would sell out Taiwan. She also said they do not know there is such a demonstration for Taiwan and by chance to see the parade passing by after they came out from the doctor’s appointment for her teenager son. Immediately they decided they could not pass such an opportunity to do something meaningful for Taiwan and joined the parade. I was pretty moved, won’t you?
From the above stories show that Taiwan gets friends everywhere and is not alone. Second, despite the inaction for the entrance to the UN and an over-killed tilting toward China by Ma, Taiwanese will not give up but to fight that incited more than expected number of people to show up in this demonstration. Third, the 2nd generation youth played a key role in the operation of the demonstration. They organized their team and set the main theme for this year’s demonstration as "Keep Taiwan Free." For a long while we the first generation are very worry about there is no one to pass the torch on, but it proves that our young generation is gradually maturing and ready to take the baton.
